Does External Prostate Massage Hurt?

When men are first introduced to prostate massage, one of the first questions men ask is, “Will prostate massage hurt?”  The answer is it depends.  Some men experience slight discomfort until their rectum and anus are used to the prostate massager being inserted into their backside to perform prostate massage.  Some men find it pleasurable the first time they use it, and some men say it hurts and must discontinue.  Some men prefer to use a gloved and lubricated finger to massage their prostate gland.

What is Prostate Massage?

Prostate massage is the process of using a prostate massage device or gloved and lubricated finger to massage the prostate gland.  Prostate massage is used either as a tool relieve the pain and discomfort of an enlarged prostate, and some men use prostate stimulation for self stimulation and to enhance lovemaking or masturbation.  With traditional prostate massage, a finger or prostate massager is inserted into the rectum.  Some men find traditional prostate massage pleasurable, while other men find it painful or won’t even attempt this enlarged prostate treatment since it involves inserting anything into their backside.

Does External Prostate Massage Hurt?

A more recent invention to help with prostate problems  is a product called the Prostate Cradle, which is an external prostate massager.  The beauty of this type of prostate massager is that it is used on the outside of the body.  The Prostate Cradle was invented by a massage therapist to treat his patients with prostate problems, and to treat his own enlarged prostate issues.  There is no need to insert a prostate massager into your rectum, no need for lubricants or gloves and you can be fully clothed.  This type of prostate massage is ideal for men who can’t reach their backside to insert a traditional prostate massager, or find inserting a prostate massager into their rectum dirty or taboo.

So, to answer the question, does external prostate massage hurt, the answer is no.  If you are using a hard chair, some men sit directly onto their prostate cradle, and some men put a towel over it and then sit on it.  If you are using a chair with a fabric seat, you will most likely find you won’t even need to use a towel as the seat cushion itself makes using your external prostate massager easy and comfortable.  Since I have a soft cushion chair, I tried it both ways and found using a towel prevented the benefits of external prostate massage, so try it both ways and see what works best for you.

Who Should Use the Prostate Cradle?

  • Men who can’t reach their backside to insert a prostate massager
  • Men who found traditional prostate massage painful
  • Men who find their backside dirty or taboo
