Erectile dysfunction is a condition in which men are unable to achieve or maintain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse.  This sexual dysfunction is usually a symptom of larger medical condition, such as heart disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, effects of smoking, thyroid disease or obesity, to name a few.  In this article you will learn the Benefits of CoQ10 for Men with Erectile Dysfunction

What To Do if You have Erectile Dysfunction?

The first course of action is to see your doctor for a physical exam to determine the route cause of the erectile dysfunction.  If your ED is due to cardiovascular disease,Type 2 Diabetes, or other medical condition, see your doctor a proper treatment protocol.  Cardiovascular disease and Type 2 Diabetes are leading causes of erectile dysfunction in men.  In studies of men who suffer from heart disease or Type 2 Diabetes, most of the test subjects were found to be deficient in Coenzyme Q10(CoQ10), also known as Ubiquinone.  Ubiquinol is the active metabolite of ubiquinone. This enzyme is produced naturally in the body and acts as a sort of energy plant for cells, converting sugar and other components in the mitochondria of the cell into ATP to help the cells function properly.

When Does CoQ10 (Ubiquinone) Begin to Decrease?

As people reach the age of 45, the natural production of CoQ10, or Ubiquinone, begins to decrease.  In men, you may notice that this is the target age when health conditions such as heart disease, low testosterone levels, low energy, memory lapse,  and erectile dysfunction begin to appear.  As the level of CoQ10, energy for cells that converts sugar into food, decreases, cells are not able to function properly and even begin to die, leading to a host of health problems, including poor health, illness and disease.  ED is rarely a condition that develops by itself, but rather is a symptom of a medical or mental issue.

Benefits of  Liquid CoQ10 Supplement

A liquid CoQ10 supplement is particularly effective in people with heart disease or congestive heart failure, reducing the symptoms of these heart conditions as the energy level in the cells are boosted, and thus improving the function of these organs, and improving blood flow which positively impacts other organs in the body.  CoQ10 is also a good source of antioxidant, which repairs damaged cells.  For men with erection problems, this can reduce stress on the heart, improve the flow of blood to the penis, and reduce or eliminate the symptoms of erectile dysfunction.

A CoQ10 Supplement, like Qunol Liquid CoQ10,  which replaces the naturally lost Coenzyme 10,  in most cases can be included in your treatment plan, since this natural health supplement can sometimes lead to reducing the dosing of the primary medication, or possibly replacing the medication completely.  Any changes to your medication, reducing dosage or elimination of the medication should only be done with the guidance of a healthcare professional to prevent dangerous or life threatening side effects.

CoQ10 Side Effects

While most people will not experience any side effects of taking a CoQ10 supplement,  some side effects may be experienced when mixed with certain medications, so consult your doctor determine if a Coenzyme Q10 supplement can be used.

Thomas, thanks for your comment. I agree CoQ10 is a vital enzyme for heart health. You have an interesting story about how CoQ10 helped your heart health issues. Ken

CoQ10 is vital for proper heart function, especially if you are taking a statin drug such as Lipitor or Crestor which block your bodies ability to convert cholesterol to CoQ10. Recent studies in Taiwan show that taking 150mgs per day of CoQ10 dramatically lowered markers associated with heart attacks. I had heart failure and was in line for a transplant. I took 600 mgs of CoQ10 per day, along with a host of other nutrients and hormones, and despite being given odds of only 1% that might heart would heal, it did heal. I have written about my journey, lessons learned and path to health in my book “One Percent: My Journey Overcoming Heart Disease” available on Amazon.com. It is possible to prevent and overcome heart disease without surgery – but you have to make it your responsibility and not just simply listen to medical doctors.

Hi Sid, thanks for the comment. Any physical activity can cause ED, if you have a condition, such as heart disease, diabetes, low testosterone or other health condition that impacts blood flow to the bodies organs. Cycling can also lead to low sperm count if your testicles get too hot for an extended period of time. Ken
