Five Warning Signs You May Have Erectile Dysfunction
If you think you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction, there are several well documents signs of impotence in men of all ages.
The good news is that men do not need sex, and thus erectile dysfunction is not a fatal condition, regardless of what you think or hear.
But, if you believe you suffer from ED, there are several warning signs to discuss with your doctor or medical practitioner. Erectile Dysfunction is usually the result of a physical or mental condition.
Here are the five leading warning signs of Erectile Dysfunction:
1) Heart Disease. To achieve an erection requires a large amounts of blood flowing into the three chambers of the penis, which stiffens the penis sufficient for sexual intercourse. There is a correlation between erectile dysfunction and heart disease. Someone who is suffering from cardiovascular disease may have ED, due to an inability to achieve or maintain an erection which allows them to engage in sexual intercourse. This is result of plaque build up on the walls of the arteries. This disease restricts efficient blood flow to the organs of the body, and forces the heart to work harder to pump blood. As the heart becomes weak, blood pressure drops resulting in weaker erections.
2) Stress. Stress is one of the leading mental causes of erectile dysfunction in men. When someone is under stress, they are less likely to be mentally motivated and stimulated to perform sexually. The stress of not being able to perform creates more stress on top of the stress that lead to the erectile dysfunction. Stress also causes the release of the hormones cortisol and adrenaline, which effect the central nervous system and prevents the brain from sending signals to increase blood flow to the penis when the libido is activated.
3) Anxiety. Anxiety is one of the other leading causes of erectile dysfunction. When someone is suffering from anxiety, they may be worried about their ability to achieve an erection or satisfy their partner. The first time this happens, it creates negative self talk in your mind. Once your mind starts spinning, it looks for all the reasons you can’t perform sexually and reminds you over and over again until you believe what your negative mind is telling you.
4) Lack of desire. If you do not desire your partner, or you think your partner does not desire you, then you may be less interested in having sex with them. Since the desire to have sex with a person starts in the mind, and if you for any reason do not desire that person, then you will be less likely to be stimulated to trigger libido, and send a signal a to your brain to send blood your penis sufficient to achieve an erection or or a hard enough erection for intercourse.
5) Depression. If you are suffering from depression you may feel a lack of desire or interest in sex, which prevents you from achieving an erection. Also, if you are on medication for depression. one of the side effects can be erectile dysfunction or lack of sexual desire. Similar to stress, during depression he brain releases hormones that can depress the central nervous system, which impacts desire, libido and the brain to trigger blood flow to penis. This is how depression and erectile dysfunction are connected.
